Gemini Clip Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 21, 2026
Gemini Clip is designed to perform its work locally in your browser. This page explains what the extension accesses and why.
Data collection
Gemini Clip does not collect, sell, share, or transmit personal data to the developer, advertising networks, or analytics services. The developer does not receive your Gemini conversations, selected content, images, settings, or usage history.
Selected text and images
Gemini Clip reads text and images only after you explicitly start selection and choose content on gemini.google.com. The selected content is processed locally so it can be placed into the Gemini draft you choose. The extension does not send messages automatically.
For an image you select, Gemini Clip may request the original image bytes from a Gemini or Google-hosted image resource. This happens only to complete your requested import. The extension does not upload the image to a developer-operated server.
Local and temporary storage
The extension stores preferences such as language, floating-button visibility, and custom shortcuts in Chrome extension storage. It may also keep the last selection and a pending import payload locally so an import can survive Gemini’s chat navigation and so you can repeat the last selection.
Selected original images can be larger than Chrome’s standard extension-storage quota. Gemini Clip therefore requests unlimitedStorage to avoid silently truncating or losing user-selected images. This permission does not give the developer access to your files or browser data.
You can remove imported draft content with Gemini Clip’s Clear button. You can remove stored extension data by clearing the extension’s data or uninstalling the extension. Stale pending payloads expire automatically.
