ChatGPT Clip Privacy Policy

ChatGPT Clip is a Chrome extension that helps users select text and images from ChatGPT conversations and import that selected content into the current chat, a new chat, or another existing chat.
Data Collection
ChatGPT Clip does not collect, sell, share, or transmit personal data to the developer or any third-party analytics service.
The extension does not use analytics, advertising trackers, remote logging, or external developer servers.
How Selected Content Is Used
ChatGPT Clip runs only on ChatGPT pages. When a user actively selects text or images, the extension reads the selected text and selected image URLs so it can complete the user-requested import action.
Selected content is processed locally in the user’s browser. It may be temporarily stored in Chrome local storage during the import flow so the extension can move the selected content into the current ChatGPT conversation, a new ChatGPT conversation, or another selected conversation in the same browser session.
Images are fetched only when needed for the user-requested import action. The selected content is used solely to complete the user’s explicit action.
Permissions
ChatGPT Clip requests limited permissions:
storage: saves user preferences and temporarily stores selected content metadata during the import flow.activeTab: allows the extension popup and shortcut to start selection on the current ChatGPT tab.clipboardWrite: supports the fallback copy-text action if manual recovery is needed.- ChatGPT and OpenAI host permissions: allow the selection UI to run on ChatGPT and allow selected OpenAI-hosted image resources to be fetched for upload into the selected conversation.
Remote Code
ChatGPT Clip does not use remote code. All extension code is included in the extension package.
Donations
ChatGPT Clip may include optional donation links, such as PayPal.Me, for users who want to support development. Donations are voluntary and are not required for any feature. Payment information is handled by the external payment provider and is not processed by ChatGPT Clip.
User Control
Users can clear extension data at any time by removing the extension, clearing Chrome extension storage, or clearing site data from the browser.
